What is SR-22 Insurance?
It’s important to note that an SR-22 is not really insurance. Required by Virginia’s Department of Motor Vehicles, an SR-22 is a vehicle liability insurance certificate for anyone with a high-risk insurance policy. HIS Insurance and Service is more than capable of filing the certificate in the state of Virginia to vouch for you. In a nutshell, SR-22 insurance certifies that you have insurance.
How do I know if I need an SR-22?
You will likely need to file an SR-22 if the following have occurred:
- You have been convicted of a DUI/DWI
- You were driving while uninsured
- You were involved in a serious, fatal accident
- You have obtained a large number of points on your driving record.
How long does an SR-22 Last?
Virginia’s DMV may require three years for conviction of driving without insurance or driving with a suspended license. If you receive an SR-22 due to a DUI, it could last up to five years. An SR-22 is only needed if a judge instructs you to acquire one and if you already have insurance you just need to add it to your policy. If you don’t have insurance, you must quote an auto policy and SR-22.
How do I get an SR-22?
Contact HIS Insurance & Service if you need an SR-22 certificate of financial responsibility. We’ll be able to expertly and efficiently file your SR-22 with the appropriate government department.
Keep in mind that an SR-22 is not lasting. You can eradicate the file from your plan after you’ve maintained it for the required amount of time. Once your SR-22 has been withdrawn, your driving record will also be clear of the damages that triggered the SR-22.
